About this provider
The swim team places swimmers in practice groups by technical correctness first, also weighing age, speed, emotional maturity, work ethic and attitude. 1 The Black Group is the beginning level, introducing the fundamentals of the four competitive strokes; swimmers must understand water safety and swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. 5 Higher groups, from Bronze to Gold, need a coach's recommendation, and competition is expected at those levels. 8 Coaches change group assignments after the long course and short course seasons, and may adjust them quarterly. 13
